Children grow up super quick and if you’re a parent, you know how fast time flies! Each child develops and grows up differently but there are certain developmental milestones you need to be aware of. Children are quick to learn and adapt and it is the parents’ job to help them grow in their environment comfortably and understand their baby’s needs.
Here is a brief guide on what your child’s development by 3 months should look like.
Body
As your baby reaches the 3 months or 12 weeks mark, also called the fourth trimester by some doctors, they should be able to turn their heads 90 degrees. By this time, babies have discovered their hands so they learn to suck on their fingers and thumbs. They can now recognize different scents and understand textures by touch. Three-month-old babies also have better hand-eye coordination by this point. Your baby should also be able to sit up and even keep their head steady. If not completely, babies should also be able to lift up their arms and torso.Brain
Better hand-eye coordination is also a result of an increased vision in three-month-old babies. They still don’t have any object permanence or depth perception, but their clarity of seeing and hearing things increases. They can grasp objects better and even follow movements.
