There is no better feeling in this world than holding the baby that you’ve been excitedly waiting for over the past nine months. As a new parent, you must be overjoyed and overwhelmed with emotions—and you have every right to be! However, it’s also common to be nervous and have plenty of questions. A pediatrician will be glad to answer them! Just make sure you prepare for the first visit well.
What to bring
Bringing any hospital paperwork means there are fewer questions left for the pediatrician to ask you. Instead of asking mundane questions, the session can focus on more critical questions about the baby’s feeding and poop. Your paperwork will also talk about any concerns or risk factors present during the pregnancy or the delivery. You might also want to bring in your insurance card if the baby hasn’t been put on one already. It’s also a great idea to document the baby’s feeding and sleeping patterns on a chart and bring it along, so the pediatrician can go over it. Make sure you’re also carrying a few extra diapers, some wipes, a pacifier, an extra pair of clothes, a feeding bottle and the formula that goes along with it. A nice fluffy blanket will keep the baby warm while you wait for your turn.
